Monitors

In a recording studio, monitors are the audible expression of your mix. As opposed to loudspeakers, monitors are designed to represent an unaltered translation of the signals you’ve recorded. Monitors can be powered, (active) or not. (Passive) Active monitors include a built in amplifier, passive monitors require an external amplifier. Amplifiers are needed to power reference monitors.
